Reception/Administration Team

Team Leaders

We have team leaders working at our Plympton, Laira and Efford sites – Emma, Helen and Irene can help patients with their queries and will support you in managing your appointments, prescription requests and home visits as well as overseeing the smooth running of our front of house at each site.

Emma Bernard : Team Leader, Plympton

After leaving college, finishing a course in leisure and tourism, Emma enrolled into an apprentice course, studying an NVQ in business skills, working at Pathfields whilst at college. After qualifying she was taken on permanently and over the years has progressed to her current role as team leader. Emma oversees the running of the practice reception, oversees the training of the reception staff and supports the management of the staff rotas. She provides help and support to the team and to our patients when needed. In her spare time Emma enjoys socialising with friends and sailing with her family.

Irene Smith : Team Leader, Efford

Irene has had a career in administration, data processing and customer relations, working with the Co-op for over 20 years. She has been lead receptionist at the Efford site for over six years and thoroughly enjoys working with patients, clinical team and wider Pathfields team across other sites when needed. In her spare time, Irene enjoys travel, cooking and is an active supporter of the Plymouth Raiders basketball team.

Karen Weir : Practice Data Clerk

After her A levels Karen undertook at NVQ in administration at Derriford Hospital whilst working as a ward clerk. Karen joined Pathfields in 2004 as a receptionist and has progressed her career since then now being responsive for data management including QOF, audits and reports, disease management communications and other practice priorities. Karen is also a key member of the reception team supporting the training of new staff. Karen is also responsible for updating patient leaflets and areas of our website. In her spare time Karen enjoys baking, reading and socialising with friends.

Claire Davis : Practice Secretary

Claire qualified as a Medical Secretary in 1992 and has worked in various primary and secondary care settings, including Derriford Hospital. She joined Pathfields in July 2012 and is responsible for the secretarial duties of all three sites, including managing referrals, queries, and producing medical reports. Claire enjoys reading, baking, walking her dogs and spending time with her three children.
